Artist Statement

I am Christian Taylor Torres, an up-and-coming visual artist currently based in New England.

With photography being my primary medium, I am interested in themes of modern times in contrast with the natural world, the human body and its hubris, and texture galore. That being said, my work is very versatile, from having shot fashion shows, large corporate events, concerts (from the pit), small local businesses, personal commissions and portfolio work.

In uncertain times such as these, there is nothing more galvanizing than art. Art is human. Since the invention of the camera obscura, society has exponentially leaned on visual media. Photography has changed how the world sees, and that’s what makes it such a powerful tool. I believe that because of this, not only has the need for artists in the job market grown, but there’s a silent call-to-action sounding out to these creatives. With intolerance and ignorance ever thriving, I find it necessary to continue to create in spite of.
